Protect your TV During your Move09/24/2017A horrible thing that can go wrong when you’re moving is finding out your TV was broken. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it’s no fun to finally get all moved in but not be able to relax in front of the TV because it broke. We want to do everything we can to make your move as stressless as it can be here in Little Rock, whether you’re moving locally or long distance. That’s why we write up some tips and tricks for getting your TV ready for the move. First off, you will need a box that’s appropriate for your TV. The perfect thing to use is the box that your TV originally came in – if you still have that. If you got rid of it though, you can buy a package made specially for moving televisions from either a hardware store or a moving supply company. You should use a box that is just slightly bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile items requires packing and preparation experience, not simply moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers is excited to help you with your move, even if that means packing up your television. Before unplugging everything, a great thing to do is snap a few pictures of the back of the TV with all of the cords plugged in. This will make it much easier when you have to reinstall your TV. After this, you can start getting your TV ready to go. First take out the power cord, then take out any other connecting wires and cords. Get all of it in a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. You may have a base you have to separate from the television so you can fit it in the box. If this is the case, put everything in a little bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so everything stays in one place. After getting all of the cords and wires separated from the TV, you can get the TV all packed up. Whether you are moving far from Little Rock or you are simply moving locally, it’s important to know your television is properly covered. Use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, there will be some in your kit if purchased one, or in the box that your TV came in if you still have that. The foam doesn’t only keep the screen safe, but it also will keep your television from moving around in the box during the move. Steady the foam pieces with mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover your entire television and protect it from getting scratched. When your TV is totally covered up it’s finally time to put it in the box! Keep it upright as you do this, and get it secured by stuffing spaces and gaps with more sheets and blankets. This keeps the TV from shifting around in its box. The last step is to get the TV inside of the truck. Make sure you keep the box upright and put it next to other flat surfaced, sturdy items, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Don’t forget to keep your cables by the TV, in a bag taped to the side or in another box. After that you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Little Rock to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
